BACK TO SEQUIM

Pictures are: Collecting eggs, picking carrots, yummy apples, Lake Crescent, and DS on Dusty, trotting.

It's been far too long since I've seen my Mom and Step-Dad in Washington. DS and I got to spend last week with them. It was a great trip! We had so much fun seeing them. The chickens have grown up in the 5 months we've been gone and they've started laying eggs.

My Mom calls the one rooster, "Feisty".

I learned how to give him a gentle kick so he doesn't attack me when I come near.
After a few kicks, he had a new respect for me. The fruit and veggie garden was just ending most of it's harvest for now, but DS got to help pick apples, the last small potato, the lone strawberry left, lettuce, carrots, squash and blackberries. And he helped gather the eggs twice a day. He was especially thrilled with the pretty green eggs and the double yolks! Needless to say, we ate well during the week. We also ate out often, which is a favorite thing to do as well for our family.

We went to Sequim bay, looked out at the Dungeness spit, toured Port Angeles, drove up to Crescent Lake (absolutely stunning! Reminds me of Lake Tahoe). DS got to tour a local dairy, drink fresh milk with cream, and eat all the fresh fruits and veggies. He wasn't too thrilled with eating squash, but he did have fun harvesting it. He also got his first horseback riding lesson. This was great since he's always been kinda afraid of horses. He rode a small pony named Dusty. The lady who works with the horses trains them using a native American method, and it really seems to work. DS even rode by himself and trotted!
